Individuality. We said it. However, we’ll take each one in turn. Width, depth and height are self-explanatory. Depending on your desired use, you can design custom dimensions for the grating.

Especially if the grating is to be driven over, it must be able to withstand certain loads. We guarantee this by selecting the correct load class and the material. As we are experts in stainless steel, you'll never have any problems with this requirement. In addition, we can also offer gratings in galvanised materials.

Your grating: Let's go into more detail.
While dimensions and material are easily explained, it may make sense to explain these terms; mesh size; filling; and supporting rod. Mesh size describes the distance between two filling rods, or two supporting rods. So, mesh size can be 20mm x 33mm, for example. The distance between the filling rods is therefore 13mm greater than that of the filling rods.

As already explained: If you think of a grating as a 3D cube (the walkable surface is on top) the support rods project downwards and the filling rods extend over the width. However, this is not the only difference. Because the two different names aren't a random choice. The supporting rods are decisive in the load capacity of the grating. If the grating needs to be driven over, a certain load class is necessary. This is defined via the potential load, which determines the corresponding support rods, in terms of their number and above all their height.

Custom grating: The load classes
Fundamentally, European standards EN 124 (coverings for traffic areas) and EN 1433 (drainage channels) differentiate between load classes. A total of six different classes are used for this value, from a 1.5 tonne test load up to 90 tonnes test load.

You will see, our load classes for a grating differ fundamentally. For most cases, i.e. for steps made of metal, light shaft gratings, etc. the low classes are sufficient. But you know what? We have stored all load classes on the configurator and can therefore keep all options available for you.
